AFFIRM

AFFIRM is a six-day, five-night youth event of faith, fellowship, and friends sponsored by the ELCA Southeastern Synod. Grounded in Scripture, the event offers youth the opportunity to develop the ministry/life skills that allow each individual to know and live out God’s affirming touch in Jesus Christ. Affirm nurtures faith and equips youth leaders for today and tomorrow. Over 75 adults serve on the Affirm Staff. We are so fortunate to have these awesome volunteers give their time to our youth. AFFIRM will be held at the Berry College in Mount Berry, Georgia.

Hunger Walk

This is an annual event that Christ the Lord has been participating in for many years. Because it falls on a Sunday, it has been difficult for the youth to participate in the Hunger Walk in the past, and make it back in time for church that afternoon. Therefore, we have scheduled the Hunger Walk as a part of our ministry.

National Youth Gathering

June 27-July 1, 2018;  Houston, TX – Fundraising has already begun!

The ELCA Youth Gathering is for high school-aged youth (completed grades 9-12). The National Youth Gathering is a triennial event that takes place over five days – Wednesday to Sunday – and includes opportunities for worship, service, fellowship, study and holy play. It is an opportunity for youth to engage in worship and fellowship with peers from across the United States and the world who share a common commitment and faith in Christ.
Many ELCA congregations see their participation in the ministry of the ELCA Youth Gathering as one aspect of their work to fulfill the promise they made around the baptismal font to raise faithful young people who:

  • Live among God’s faithful people,
  • Hear the word of God and share in the Lord’s supper,
  • Proclaim the good news of God in Christ through their words and actions,
  • Serve and love our neighbors, following the example of Jesus, and
  • Pursue justice and peace in the world.

Personal Care Kits

Introducing Project Promise: Build Kits of Care – a perfect way for us to turn ordinary items into extraordinary gifts. We can help people dealing with some of life’s most difficult situations –the aftermath of earthquakes and floods, fleeing home to escape violence and living in extreme poverty – with items that we use every day and take for granted!

Servant Camp for Teens

This is a week-long camp experience for youth who have completed grades 7-12. Youth participate in faith formation, community service, and leadership development. This is not offered during National Youth Gathering years. 2017 Registration

Sunday School Classes:

For both middle and high school youth, classes are offered each week.

Teen Summit

PADV’s Annual Teen Summit is an excellent opportunity for teens and adults to learn about the issue of teen dating violence, how to address it and the role they can play in establishing healthy relationships. It offers two tracks of workshops: one for teens and the other for adults.

Youth Worship Team

8th -12th graders interested in planning and leading worship services throughout the year meet on Sunday mornings from 11-noon.
