All Things New

ALL THINGS NEW? Really? YES! Our Lord announces that. So, it is going to happen.

Notice: Our Lord did not announce

“I am making all things just like they were in the good old days.” And not…

"I am making all things easy.” And not…

“I am making things exactly the way you wish with no surprises.”

Nope - Our Lord Announces

“Behold, I am making all things NEW!”

This is our Lord declaring God’s future for us. Therefore, we can trust a future that will be good and surprising too.

NEW! THIS SUNDAY: September 18: Blessing and Sending of Prayer Shawls will occur at both services of worship. About 20 beautiful hand-made prayer shawls will be draped on the pews. Once blessed these prayer shawls will be ready to be distributed by disciples (like you!). Do you know someone who needs to be wrapped in the comforting promises of our Lord who listens to prayers? Juanita Hood began this mission project at CTL in 20XX. Juanita and other crafty disciples have produced these precious shawls.

Pastor Bob would deliver them to people who would welcome the comfort of a prayer shawl. What is new is that members of CTL will have the honor of delivering them to people they know and care about. That person may be you!

That’s not all that is new.

Other glimpses of our Lord's NEW WORK are appearing. Our renewed education wing gleams with fresh paint and reorganized rooms. Even better: Young disciples with some new teachers (plus experienced teachers of faith) are gathering Sunday at 10:00 a.m. to grow as disciples of our Lord. Truly and really: Christian education is the best gift we can give to our children. (God’s children come in every variety of sizes and ages.) God’s Word and our gifts are means our Lord uses to make all things new. More newness

Adult Education is beginning three new study topics this month.  Sunday School begins a new book study Where God Meets Man. Thursday morning Bible study begins exploring the gospel of Matthew. First Place for Health begins a new session and study Find Your Victory. Details on these can be found in this eNews.

The CTL website has a new look.  Anyone looking for a new church home will find a great representation of who we are as people of God.

Check out the new video and sound booth at the back of CTL’s sanctuary. Some dedicated CTL disciples with construction and technical gifts built this. It will improve the quality of sound in our worship space and improve ‘online’ services for those unable to attend worship in person.

New Drama Ministry is working hard to present a play this Month on September 30 - October 2. It will be grand, I hope you make plans now to support these hard-working thespians.

A Christmas Cantata will be presented during the Advent season. Our gifted musicians and choirs will be offering an evening of music at the beginning of this Advent season.

And one more newness on the way.

A new Pastor will be coming to CTL We do not yet know who this pastor will be or when the new pastor will arrive. But, God knows. At the right time, this will be revealed to us. Our Lord is at work using CTL’s dedicated Call Committee. We trust the Spirit of our risen Lord is at work now preparing new blessings for CTL. The Call Committee is anxiously awaiting the Bishop’s Office to have three candidates for them to interview. The first interviews will be electronic. Interviews after that will be in person.

HEY! WHAT ABOUT YOU?  What gifts has our Lord entrusted to you that may be used in new ways to serve others and glorify God? Let’s look for new ways to have the joy of doing good work and enjoy the community we have as CTL. Our Lord will use us to help ‘make all things new".

Grace and peace,

Scott Peterson, Interim Pastor

Bible Presentation

Second Grade Bible Presentation

At Christ the Lord we believe putting the scripture into the hands of young children is a valuable gift for their faith journey. On September 25th the congregation presents all second grade students with a Bible. This serves as a reminder to the students the importance of God’s word in their lives. If you have a second grader, please let Diane Thomas know you would like them to receive a Bible at one of the two services that day.
