Creation to Resurrection

A Word from Pastor Brad

Then God said, “Let us make humans in our image, according to our likeness, and let them have dominion over the fish of the sea and over the birds of the air and over the cattle and over all the wild animals of the earth and over every creeping thing that creeps upon the earth. Thus, the heavens and the earth were finished, and all their multitude. On the sixth day, God finished the work that he had done, and he rested on the seventh day from all the work that he had done”. -Genesis 1. 26, 30- 2.2

The link between creation and resurrection is unmistakable. Jesus dies on the sixth day, the day God created man. On Saturday, the seventh day, God rests. On Sunday, early on that eighth day, God does a new thing. God begins the work of a new creation through the resurrection of a man, his son, Jesus the Christ.

We are Easter people called to live joyously in the new creation that comes through the resurrection of Jesus. Yet, I know that in times of uncertainty and hopelessness, of darkness and despair, it can be difficult to feel the joy of Easter. The beauty of Holy Week is that we are called to remember what God has done. God brings forth creation from nothing and life from death. It is in that place of memory, where the words of the prophet Isaiah bring hope to the hopeless, joy to the joyless, In His Service - Pastor Brad.

Ministry Madness

Grace House

Lutheran Campus Ministry at Georgia Tech’s Grace House needs Christ the Lord’s help! The Lutheran Campus Ministries in the ACC are in a friendly competition this tournament season. We have the opportunity to support Lutheran Campus Ministry at Georgia Tech’s Grace House (and win a tailgate or visit from the wreckshaw for our congregation).

Lutheran Campus Ministry at Georgia Tech's Grace House transforms students, the campus, and the world through the love of Jesus. We impact over 500 students every week through small groups, worship, dinners, coffee house outreach, and our food pantry.

Attention Knitters and Crocheters Prayer Shawls Needed

We are collecting handmade prayer shawls to share with anyone needing a reminder that God is with them during a difficult time. Use materials and a pattern, of your choosing. Please utilize neutral colors and make the prayer shawls at least six feet in length. Completed shawls can be brought to the church office or given to any staff member. Email Juanita Hood if you have any questions.

Our Toilet Paper Drive is

Scheduled for April

On April 30, Christ the Lord will collect toilet paper for the Lawrenceville Co-Op. This obviously needed item is seldom donated at the co-op. They depend heavily on drives like ours to supply the needs of their clients. In the past, we have contributed enough TP to last months at the co-op. Let’s make this a great year and TP drive to top the others. Our goal this year is 2023 rolls. Can you help us reach our goal? Bring in Toilet paper on Sunday, April 30.

Adult Sunday Morning Faith Formation

10:00 a.m.

Room 7 in the Education Hallway

Timothy Keller, the founding pastor of Redeemer Presbyterian Church in New York City, addresses the frequent doubts that skeptics, and even ardent believers, have about religion. Using literature, philosophy, real-life conversations, and potent reasoning, Keller explains how the belief in a Christian God is, in fact, a sound and rational one. To true believers, he offers a solid platform on which to stand their ground against the backlash to religion created by the Age of Skepticism. And to skeptics, atheists, and agnostics, he provides a challenging argument for pursuing the reason for God.

Denim, Tees, and Formals

Oh My

As you're doing your spring cleaning and seasonal wardrobe changeover, please donate your gently used jeans, t-shirts, and formal attire for the domestic violence shelter. Many women, men, and children who arrive at the shelter have nothing but the clothes they are wearing. With prom and wedding season upon us and homecoming in the fall, we'd love to have a great selection for the residents to choose from so they can feel comfortable attending these events. You may leave your donations in the bin located in the narthex. If you have any questions, please mail Lori Leberman. Thank you!

Join the Care Team

The Care Team is being rebuilt. This group of servants will be on call to provide meals, send cards, provide rides or sit with folks experiencing hardship. They will also help to stay connected with members who are unable to attend services in person. If you have served in the past or if you would like to join the team, please email Lori Leberman, Outreach Ministry Chairperson.
