Homecoming
New Shoes - A Member's Perspective
It has been three years. Three long years since we met normally before Covid. During that challenging time, our beloved Music Director and Pastor both retired. There was undoubtedly uncertainty. But God's people did what God's people do and we trusted and persevered. We got busy accepting who we are and making adjustments here and there. The congregation was changed.
Perhaps you have been waiting to see how things unfolded. Waiting to worship in person again here at CTL. Maybe you were waiting for "normal". There have been many new things as we adapted to our circumstances. Make no mistake, God has never changed. Families are joining at a healthy pace. Members are coming back steadily. Just know all are welcome and if you haven't been back you are missed.
Last Sunday one of our members posted thoughts on social media that echo beautifully what the leadership teams here are feeling.
From Sunday, February 6, 2023
"As I pulled onto the church parking lot this morning, I was welcomed by a full parking lot and thought “yes, we are back”! Our opening song was “Breathe” and I had to catch my breath. I’ve heard this song so many times, yet it hasn't “touched” me in a long time. Another was - “I Give My All” and I underlined these words: “and you have given me it all, so the least I can do is give it back to you”. And: “My Heart, Your Home”. These words are speaking to me -“Let everything I do open a door for you to come through and that my heart would be a place where you want to be”.
It’s been a long journey for our church to find the right fit as both the new Music Director and Pastor had some pretty big shoes to fill. I haven't gotten teary-eyed at church in a while, but today, I was moved by both the music and the message. They are not filling shoes; they are bringing their own and I cannot wait to see them take this Church forward.
“Yes, we are back”. " ~ Missy Magee
Come home and join the celebration.
