A Message from Pastor Brad

We are creatures of belonging. People formed to live in relationship with God and one another. One of our greatest fears is not belonging. This is why vulnerability is so difficult for us. We fear that if someone KNOWS us, they will find fault with us and reject us. This shame can keep us isolated and alone, preventing us from living as God intended. This is why God grants grace. Finding grace amidst shame is not about knowing God is good but rather letting our shame be seen. If we encounter another’s suffering or shame, we must remain silent until we have first listened with our heart and see the other as God sees them. We all need grace. Let us live in this broken world, as broken people, who live and believe in God’s acceptance of our brokenness.

-Pastor Brad

We will be honoring our three eighth-grade confirmation students on Sunday, May 28 during the 9:00 service. These fine youth have studied the Bible and Luther's Small Catechism for the last three years. They are ready to affirm, for themselves, the promises that their parents, sponsors, and congregation made on their behalf at their baptism. There will be a reception in the fellowship hall following the service. Please help us celebrate this milestone achievement with our youth.

Vacation Bible School

Food Truck Party VBS is based on Matthew 6:11 : “Give us this day our daily bread”. This verse reminds the children that everything we have comes from God. Because God loves and cares for us, we, in turn, can love and care for the rest of the world. Children have a fun time learning this important lesson during class time and when in crafts, games, music, science, and snack. VBS will be held June 5 – 9, 9:00 – 12:00. We invite children three years old through rising sixth grade. This is a great experience and will create memories for a lifetime. Register for VBS in the narthex or online at Ctllutheran.org. Bring a friend to vacation Bible school this year and share the love of God.

Youth Summer Camp

Registration is Open

We will be hosting two weeklong servant camps for our youth this summer. Each gives the youth an opportunity to serve in the community every morning and then enjoy fellowship activities with the other campers in the afternoons. Both camps run 8:30 – 4:30. Both camps are $110 with scholarships available. Rising fifth, sixth, and seventh-grade students are invited to attend Preteen Servant Camp June 19 – 23. Youth rising eighth grade through twelfth go to Teen Servant Camp July 10 – 14. Registration information is available at a display in the Narthex. Contact Diane Thomas for more information.

Gwinnett Pride Festival

June is national pride month. Christ the Lord Lutheran Church will have a table at this year's Gwinnett Pride event on June 10 at Thrasher Park in Norcross. We are seeking volunteers to participate.

Volunteers will be present at our table to engage with attendees at the event to share the love of God, what being Lutheran means, and our welcoming congregation.

The event is from 12:00-5:00 and we will split it into two shifts (unless someone wants to stay the whole time), from 12:00-2:30 and 2:30-5:00. We need about 5 people for each shift.

If you have any questions or would like to volunteer, please email Lori Leberman here Thank you!

Join the Care Team

The Care Team is being rebuilt. This group of servants will be on call to provide meals, send cards, provide rides or sit with folks experiencing hardship. They will also help to stay connected with members who are unable to attend services in person. If you have served in the past or if you would like to join the team, please email Lori Leberman, Outreach Ministry Chairperson.
