AN OPEN LETTER TO CTL’s NEXT PASTOR

Dear Next Pastor of Christ the Lord Lutheran Church,

We are eagerly anticipating your arrival at CTL! As the interim pastor here since January, I write hoping to help prepare you for your ministry at Christ the Lord. Here are some significant things you should know.

“Caring People, Caring for People” is more than a cliché at CTL. It is an accurate mission statement announcing the identity and character of this congregation. The members and staff of CTL work together compassionately caring for each other. They take their caring hearts into relationships with others and into their wider communities.

The heart and mind of Pastor Bob Mitchell who served CTL for over 35 years left an indelible imprint of kindness and faithfulness upon the people. He paved the way for the warm welcome I received upon my arrival. That kindness will be extended to you as well.

What does CTL need most from you? Above all, we need you to preach and teach God’s Word to us. Please deliver the good news that St. Paul wrote about in Romans 10 (above). Also, as our pastor, we will count on you to love us. Knowing you truly care about us will help open our ears to hear the Word of God you will be speaking to us.

Following the model of Jesus, we need a pastor who is a leader, but also a servant. We need a pastor who will serve to build upon the strengths our Lord has already entrusted to CTL. And, we need a pastor who will lead in ways that will grow the ministries and missions of CTL.

Jesus invited his first disciples, “Follow me.” What an adventurous journey that was for them! We anticipate journeying with you on an adventure our Lord has prepared for us together as Christ the Lord Lutheran Church.

Grace and peace to you,

Scott Peterson, Interim Pastor

And let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us,"

Men's Bible Study

New Topic Begins November 1

A study of the book of Job will begin Tuesday, November 1 at 7:00 p.m. Named after its central character Job, the Book of Job attempts to understand the sufferings that engulf Job and bring him everlasting Hope. The reason for this study is - We all need Hope. Our only true Hope comes from God, who has given us His Son Jesus, to save us and bring us to Him, for Joy everlasting. Men's bible study meets Tuesday evenings at 7:00. Email Richard Burgess for more information.

Grab Them Before They are Gone!

The youth are selling 2023 calendars and blank greeting cards. With lovely photographs of nature and Bible verses, the calendars are a great addition to any home or office. The proceeds will benefit CTL youth attending the 2024 trip to National Youth Gathering in New Orleans. The calendars and cards make great gifts and help support our outstanding youth. The cost is $9 each. They can be purchased on Sundays in the narthex or by emailing Diane Thomas. Grab one or two today.

Christ in Our Home

Daily Devotional

Prayer Shawls Needed

Prayer shawls are available for anyone who would benefit from the reminder that God is with them during a difficult time. If you knit or crochet and would like to share your talent, we invite you to create a prayer shawl. You may use materials, patterns, and colors of your choosing. We ask that you utilize gender-neutral color schemes and be sure to make the shawls at least six feet in length. Once completed you can bring them to the church office or give them to any staff member. Should you have questions please contact Juanita Hood at 770-598-8410.

We Are Equipped

CTL has been gifted an AED (Automated External Defibrillator). This life-saving tool has been set up and is available for use should anyone experience a cardiac event while on church property. The unit has been mounted in a see-through cabinet and can be found across from the narthex bathrooms. This AED Plus guides rescuers in performing high-quality CPR and will deliver a shock if needed. All supplies are stored in the unit. We encourage you to take time to notice where it is located. We are incredibly grateful to the donors whose generosity made this purchase possible.
